It will come as no surprise that of all the Fashion Weeks, I’m always the most excited about Paris. Seeing footage of the events and all of the street style shots always makes me a bit sad – Paris me manque!
While I won’t be in the city for the FW13 collections next week, I’m going to live vicariously through all of the reporters and bloggers who are – and that requires a perfect Parisian outfit.
For my imaginary foray into the madness of Paris Fashion Week, I’m going for a look that is both stylish and comfortable. I want it to straddle the seasons, since March in Paris can be both chilly – but also give you wonderful glimpses at what spring will bring.
I’m all about the layers – in this case, bringing together a blue button-up, with a pink sweater – topped by my trusty denim jacket. I’ve had it since high school, and it’s never done me wrong.
My black skirt is actually a souvenir from a trip to Paris a few years ago – and I love that it’s actually ‘Made in France’. It swishes around my legs as I walk, leaving me feeling very bobo (bourgeois bohemian) whether I’m in the 11ième or the 2ième.
Low-heeled boots are important for the look. They are also essential for the amount of walking I do in Paris. I brought these with me on my last visit and with a strategic pair of gel inserts, I wandered the avenues for hours at a time without issue.
To finish off the look, I’m going with the dramatic black hat I selected a few months ago, and an oversized Liberty print scarf. Scarves are a must – and even though the rest of my outfit leans to the winter-ish side, the pattern of the scarf gets me in the mood for spring.
