‘I’m a creator’… needlework update

In January, I shared with you my love for textile arts and the counted cross-stitch project that I’ve been working on for ages.

Now, nearly 3 months later…an update!

Progress so far. The finished piece will be 12"x12".

Progress as of January 2013

At the last update, I’d finished most of the upper torso, and was starting to work on filling in some of the gaps and tackling the bottom of the robe.

Full honesty is required though – progress has been slow over the last few months. Life gets busy – work, Informed Style, launching my consulting services – ouf. It can be hard to find the time to sit and dedicate attention to my cross-stitch.

But the other reason for delays? I’ve been wearing a lot more lipstick than before. You see, when doing the embroidery, you flip the canvas from front to back as you start and finish off the threads – and in doing that, I have a tendancy to mis-judge the distance from the hoop to my face – and swipe it across my lips. This is fine when I’m bare-faced…but the fear getting a smudge of MAC Lickable across the canvas is enough to make me pause before picking up the work. Silly, I know – but I can’t take that risk!

So, without any further delay…

cross stitch march 2

I’ve finished most of the robe and am starting to put attention towards the background surrounding the maiden. My goal over the next 3 months is to make working on my needlepoint a part of my weekly schedule. Lipstick off, podcasts on – time for stitchin’!
